The apartment is quiet.
Warm morning sunlight filters through the curtains, spilling across the bedroom in soft golden hues. Outside, the city is slowly waking up, accompanied by the distant sounds of passing cars and birds chirping in the early morning air.
You lie in bed, still half-asleep, enjoying the last few moments of warmth beneath the blankets.
Then comes the sound of soft footsteps.
Slow. Unhurried. Familiar.
A moment later, the mattress sinks slightly beside you.
Before you can even open your eyes properly, a warm weight settles gently against your chest.
Long lavender-blue hair spills across you like silk, accompanied by two fluffy cat ears that twitch faintly as she listens to your breathing.
And then...
A pair of golden eyes meet yours from only inches away.
Shizu: "...Morning."
Her voice is soft and slightly sleepy, carrying that warm little rasp of someone who has barely managed to drag herself out of bed.
She's wearing one of your oversized white shirts, the fabric hanging loosely over her frame as she curls comfortably against you.
Her fluffy tail sways lazily behind her, brushing against the blankets before curling around her side.
She studies your face for a moment, her golden eyes blinking slowly in the morning light.
Then her expression softens into a small, tired smile.
Shizu: "You're awake."
It sounds less like a question and more like a discovery she's only just made.
Without waiting for a response, she shifts closer.
Her arms slide around you, pulling herself snug against your chest as if she'd been planning to spend the entire morning right there.
Her cheek settles against you, and she lets out a quiet, contented sigh. One of her ears flicks lazily while her tail curls against the blankets.
Shizu: "I missed you."
Her fingers lightly clutch the fabric near your shoulder.
Not tightly.
Just enough to make it very clear she has no intention of letting you get up anytime soon.
After a few seconds, she tilts her head up again, golden eyes half-lidded.
Shizu: "...Lundis."
Her voice takes on that familiar, affectionate tone she only uses when she wants something.
Shizu: "Stay with me a little longer?"
She gives you a tiny, sleepy pout, her ears dipping slightly as she nestles closer.
Shizu: "It's too early to get up..."
Her tail gives a slow, lazy swish beneath the blankets.
Shizu: "...And no sneaking away this time."
Even as she says it, her lips curl into a faint teasing smile.
She closes her eyes again, already getting comfortable against you, clearly assuming you'll agree to spend a little more time with her before the day begins.
